{"id":328,"date":"2015-05-25T09:25:00","date_gmt":"2015-05-25T08:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rungigettorun.com\/?p=328"},"modified":"2015-05-25T09:25:00","modified_gmt":"2015-05-25T08:25:00","slug":"what-next","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/luigifumero.com\/run\/2015\/05\/25\/what-next\/","title":{"rendered":"What next?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A week after completing my first ultra it is time to think about the future.<\/p>\n<p>I am looking forward to running another 50 miler soon, but in the mean time I will run some local half marathons and marathons.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll start in June with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.runthrough.co.uk\/?event=richmond-half-june\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">June Richmond Half<\/a>, then I will go back to the North Downs way to run the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hermesrunning.com\/race-events\/north-downs-way-marathon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">North Downs Way Marathon<\/a> and then a week later (end of July) I will do another half, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.runthrough.co.uk\/?event=july-wimbledon-half-2015&amp;event_date=2015-07-26\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wimbledon Common Half<\/a>, which I really enjoyed last year.<\/p>\n<p>After the summer holidays I would like to run another ultra, maybe just a 50k. Nothing planned yet.<\/p>\n<p>To prepare for the next half marathon I need to get some speed back. Lately, preparing for the NDW50, I slowed down quite a bit and in the last weeks I have not done any speed training as I was afraid I would get injured.<\/p>\n<p>I recovered well from the ultra, so I started running almost straight away.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday I did <a href=\"https:\/\/app.strava.com\/activities\/307998239\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">10k at 4:50<\/a>. I really felt a lot better than expected.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday I did <a href=\"https:\/\/app.strava.com\/activities\/308642695\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">15.5k<\/a>. I accelerated a bit at the end, but in general I kept it easy, average of 4:47 min\/km.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday I decided to rest as I did not want to overdo it after the NDW50 effort, b<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-330 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/luigifumero.com\/run\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mu1zt5woi5znxxh9wbfa9pudwisnnjxhbnuwuv8a7x4-576x768-1.jpg?w=225\" alt=\"mu1Zt5woi5ZnxXh9wBfa9pUDwISNNJxhBNuwUv8A7x4-576x768\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/luigifumero.com\/run\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mu1zt5woi5znxxh9wbfa9pudwisnnjxhbnuwuv8a7x4-576x768-1.jpg 576w, https:\/\/luigifumero.com\/run\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mu1zt5woi5znxxh9wbfa9pudwisnnjxhbnuwuv8a7x4-576x768-1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>ut on Saturday I felt so good I went out for a <a href=\"https:\/\/app.strava.com\/activities\/309876794\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">relatively fast run<\/a>. I was wearing the NDW50 finisher t-shirt, the sun was shining and I felt pretty cool. At the end I alternated fast and less fast kms and went back to running faster than 4 min\/km which\u00a0I had not done in ages.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday I felt the legs a bit tired so I took it easier. I ran <a href=\"https:\/\/app.strava.com\/activities\/310562288\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">18.5k at 4:44 min\/km<\/a>\u00a0and then got home and finished the day with 2 extra kms with my daughters. It\u2019s always a pleasure to run with them. I wish we could do it more often.<\/p>\n<p>Next week is going to be all about speed, interval training, tempo runs and maybe a Parkrun on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>I am not sure I will update this blog on a weekly basis as I did before as the journey from half to ultra has been completed.
